DESCRIPTION: The Athens Area Paine College Alumni Club presents “Joe Turner's Come and Gone" directed by N.L. Starr and written by two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning African American playwright August Wilson. Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is the second play in August Wilson’s The Century Cycle. This series captures the struggles and lives of African Americans throughout the 20th century. Set in the 1910s, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone follows the lives of several freed former enslaved African Americans in the North, exploring their experiences with racism and discrimination.Saturday, December 7th at 7:00 p.m.&Sunday, December 8th at 2:30 p.m.Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Tickets can be purchased on weekdays between 12-4 p.m. by calling (706) 613-3771 or in person at the Morton Theatre Box Office (195 West Washington Street). The box office opens one hour before each scheduled event.
